
LENNON, James Peter James Peter Lennon, 72, of
Rocky Hill, beloved husband of Joan Rafferty Lennon,
died peacefully at home on Monday, (August 16, 2004).
Born August 13, 1932, in Hartford, son of the late Rose
Redmond Lennon and Peter Lennon, James had a
distinguished newspaper career and was a proud member of
the International Typographical Union and the
Communication Workers of America. He worked for the West
Hartford News, Catholic Transcript, and retired from the
Middletown Press in 1992. Jim was a US Army Veteran of
the Korean Conflict, Sergeant 1st Class with the 45th
infantry division. Besides his wife of 51 years, he
leaves his loving daughters and sons-in-law, Susan
Lennon and Donald Freeman of Rocky Hill and Debra Lennon
and Louis Alperowitz of Wallingford; along with
cherished grandson, Michael James Lennon. He will be
missed by his loving cousin, Barbara Sylvester and
husband, Thomas of West Hartford and sister and
brother-in-law, Lucille and Malcolm Jonah of
Glastonbury; as well as Thomas and Mary Rafferty and a
host of nieces and nephews, and cousins. A lifelong
Democrat and ardent Yankees fan, Jim treasured life's
simple things; reading, crossword puzzles, trivia,
animals, sunsets and the sea. Steadfast and true, his
strength, integrity and wit will be sorely missed by all
who knew him, especially his wife and daughters. A
gathering for family and friends will be Thursday,
August 19, from 6-8 p.m., at the Giuliano-Sagarino
Funeral Home at BROOKLAWN, 511 Brook Street, Rocky Hill.
