Memorial Photo Gallery

These are the "Faces of Hereditary Hemochromatosis"...

These photos represent our loved ones, our parents, our children, our sisters and brothers...our friends, our co-workers, and our families.  All of these people pictured here have died needlessly due to hereditary hemochromatosis.   They will live in our memory forever, and serve as an inspiration to those left behind to spread the word about hemochromatosis.

Mom, it has been five long years since hereditary hemochromatosis, iron overload disease stole your precious life from us. You were our inspiration and reason for founding the American Hemochromatosis Society.  Your legacy of helping others to avoid your fate is our daily quest as we carry on your work of awareness and education.

We miss you more than you can know. We know you are waiting for us someday. You are our "Iron Angel". Until we meet again...

Love, Joe Thomas, your husband, Sandra Thomas, your daughter, and David Snyder, your friend.

Karen A. Cotter

Date of birth: March 3, 1968
Pittsburgh, PA

Date of death: October 08, 2006
Upper St. Clair, PA

Died suddenly at age 38, beloved wife of Mark J. Cotter; devoted daughter of Eugene Hoffman and Mary Ellen Langer; sister of Robert and David Hoffman; loving aunt of Tyler, Kaylin and Hayden. Karen was an active member of St. Anne's Church, with caring compassionate dedication for helping family and friends.  Her condition went undiagnosed and untreated.  It is my hope that others will learn more about this condition.  Karen, we will love you forever!
